The Physiotherapy team at Stella Physio can effectively treat a wide range of conditions including; Back/Neck pain, Whiplash and Headaches, sports injuries, frozen shoulder, postural and bio-mechanical problems, arthritis pain, tennis elbow, work-related pain. We are also experienced in Rehabilitation after fracture or surgery.
Treatment is based on established evidence-based techniques. Our treatment, which includes a wide variety of treatment options, is tailored to the individual's assessment findings, contributing factors and symptoms.
Acupuncture is a proven method of pain relief for musculo-skeletal problems and is recognised to promote good health. Acupuncture involves the insertion of sterile fine needles at chosen points including trigger points. Additional recognised pain-reliving points may also be used. The team use Acupuncture as clinically indicated to complement a physiotherapy treatment plan. All of our Physiotherapists have completed extensive Acupuncture training and their practice is monitored through the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP).
Ultrasound therapy consists of ultrasonic waves applied to the body to help stimulate blood flow to the injured area. This process aids removal of inflammatory toxins, improves nutritional circulation in the area and assists healing.
Deep tissue massage can be used effectively alongside Physiotherapy to compliment the overall treatment outcome. Massage can be key to preventing muscle imbalance and injury. Massage is especially beneficial to those individuals who spend a lot of time driving or sat at a desk and suffer from neck, shoulder or back pain as a result. Massage can be useful post exercise/training to flush away waste products through the promotion of blood and lymphatic flow. Depth and grade of massage will be tailored to the individual's problem.
This approach to yoga is great for those who wish to use yoga to aid in recovery from injury, compliment their current exercise routine or help with stress, tension and anxiety.
Each session is tailored specifically to your own needs and requirements with the opportunity to not just learn how to do the yoga postures but also why and how they work. This therapeutic approach to movement involves simple yoga postures to gently stretch and strengthen muscles, improving mobility, flexibility, respiration, circulation, digestion and elimination. These consist of both simple movements and held postures, which promote a general sense of health and well-being.
Pilates is a mind-body conditioning programme that targets the deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine to improve overall core stability and posture.
Pilates has been shown to be very effective in the prevention and rehabilitation of back injuries. We offer one-to-one Pilates training as part of our physiotherapy treatment programme as required. All of our Physiotherapists are qualified instructors and have completed extensive training through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI).
A form of complementary therapy involving massage to reflex areas found on the soles, sides and tops of the feet and the hands.
These reflex areas are believed to correspond to all the parts of the body forming a map on the feet; the right foot corresponding to the right side of the body and the left foot corresponding to the left. Reflexology can help to relieve anxiety and tension, encourage relaxation, improve mood and aid sleep. Some people use it, however, to help them cope with more specific health challenges.
Stella Physiotherapy is a modern, spacious, purpose built Physiotherapy Clinic just outside St Merryn on the Coast road between Padstow and Newquay. We are passionate about what we do and pride ourselves on thorough assessment and accurate diagnosis to ensure effective treatment and speedy restoration of pain free movement and return to function.
We are specialist musculoskeletal manual therapists and believe that ‘hands-on-treatment' can relieve pain which can then be complimented by specific targeted exercises to regain strengthen and range of movement. Our focus is addressing the cause of the problem and not just treating the source of symptoms.
I have been seeing Stella for 10 years and without her treatment I doubt I would be able to function. I have tried other treatments but none are as effective. If she ever moved I would have to follow.
Stella is the most approachable and knowledgeable Physio you could wish to meet. Nine years ago I had failed back surgery which was recognised by Stella and since that time she has kept me mobile and able to function well. She is highly qualified and has become a positive must in my life in order to cope with my severe problem. I cannot speak highly enough of her extremely sensitive caring nature. A true gem.
Stella has drastically changed my life. I have two children and a busy working life so I wouldn’t be able to cope unless I visited Stella regularly. She makes life possible – and when I am critical she is always there to help me as quickly as possible. Her treatment is the best I have ever received and it always works. Acupuncture is definitely the best and I’ll continue with this method as I know it cures me. Thank god for Stella!!
Stella has been treating me for various ailments over the last ten years, mainly bursitis and shoulder problems. It is entirely due to her ‘magic hands’ and strategically placed needles that I have been able at 87 years old to maintain my healthy regime of swimming, surfing, and walking. She is a highly professional practitioner able to make swift and accurate diagnosis.
Stella has completely transformed both my physical and mental wellbeing. She is professional, caring and knowledgeable. Stella quickly identified how to improve my aches and pains and even diagnosed issues I hadn't even considered might be linked. She explained every aspect of the treatment and the reasons for the symptoms in detail and yet always with such clarity. After a visit to Stella I always feel informed, educated and empowered to maintain and build on the positive impact of her treatment. I can't recommend her highly enough.
